EMPLOYMENT LAW

Our Employment Law section provides assistance to all types of business entities with regard to employment-related and employee-relations matters. Our attorneys regularly represent business entities with regard to employment relations matters, including establishment of employee policies, creation of employee handbooks, compliance with statutes affecting employees and employment relations, including, but not limited to, statutes governing the hiring and firing of employees, employee discrimination matters, contractual agreements with employees, employee benefits matters, including all health and retirement benefits, and relations with independent contractors. Members of our Employment Law Practice Group have experience in dealing with matters concerning all federal laws governing employment relations, including Title VII discrimination based on race, sex, religion, matters involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and COBRA matters involving continuation of health insurance.

Decker Jones employment lawyers also have extensive experience in dealing with all types of employee plans.  Our attorneys routinely represent corporate and other business clients with regard to the establishment, amending, and maintenance of Employee Benefit Plans, including Profit Sharing Plans, Defined Benefit Plans, 401(k) Plans, ESOP, KSOP, as well as all types of Welfare Benefit Plans, including Cafeteria Plans and VEBA’s. Our attorneys provide advice to Plan Administrators, Trustees, and Third Party Administrators regarding plan operation, plan filings, annual reports, discrimination testing, participant loans, and qualified domestic relations orders.

In addition to transactional matters, our Employment Law Practice Group also collaborates with our litigation and appellate sections to represent clients in employment-related controversies and disputes before the EEOC, the Texas Human Relations Commission, and various Texas and Federal Courts.
