Charles Milliken, managing shareholder of Decker, Jones, McMackin, McClane, Hall & Bates in Fort Worth, has been named Professional of the Year by the Community Foundation of North Texas.

This is the first year for the planned annual award. "Milliken is a well-deserved professional who has done so much in promoting philanthropy through Community Foundation," the organization said.

The award is given to a lawyer, accountant or financial planner to honor professionals who bring together those who have the means and those who have the need for financial support for charitable services in North Texas, the Foundation said.

Milliken is a member of the State Bar Association and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the board of directors of United Way and is immediate past chair-man of the Child Study Center in Fort Worth.

He is also a member of Leadership Fort Worth and has been involved with Junior Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Fort Worth Cities International.

The Community Foundation of North Texas assists donors to make charitable giving easy, effective and tax beneficial. It promotes local philanthropy and establishes permanent charitable endowments.
